Welcome to Maker Warmth! This is a place for hand embroidery on the clothes you already wear: denim jackets, jeans, shirts, sweaters, and little kids’ pieces. No fancy studio needed, just a needle, some floss, and a bit of patience.
If you are new to stitching, here is the easiest way to find your way around.
1. Learn a Few Basic Stitches
Five or six stitches cover almost every design on this blog. Start with the step-by-step guides and practice on a scrap of fabric before you move to clothing.
2. Pick Your First Project
Denim is the friendliest fabric for a first project: it is sturdy, it holds its shape, and small mistakes hide well in the weave.
3. Give Old Clothes a Second Life
A torn knee or a stain does not have to be the end of a favorite piece. Visible mending turns the repair into the best part of the garment.
